"The world political situation as a whole”, said Leon Trotsky, “is chiefly characterised by a historical crisis of the leadership of the proletariat”. These words could equally be applied to working class leadership today.
The depth of the capitalist crisis through which we’re living makes revolutionary leadership more urgent than ever. But no revolutionary party exists to fill this vacuum. It’s up to us to build it.
There’s a long history of attempts, some successful and many unsuccessful, at building a revolutionary party. We should study this history, especially that of the Bolshevik party - the only party to ever lead the working class to power. We must learn the lessons and build the party that can lead the new generation of workers and young people to socialist revolution.
